After more than a decade in the industry, we were sick of seeing more and more cookie-cutter reports being churned out by existing consultants. Growing frustrated with the lack of honest, straight shooting consultants, we set out to #ChangeTheGame
With formal qualifications in Sport Science and Urban Planning and over ten years experience working in local + state government, not-for-profit and private consulting across areas as diverse as elite sport, community recreation, social planning and public health, our founder + managing director Dan Ferguson (you can stalk him on LinkedIn) could have set about selling himself as a one-stop-shop for all of your consulting needs - but that's not his style...
Dan is a firm believer in #CollaborationOverCompetition - that's why he founded theCommunityCollaborative to act as a vehicle to harness the collective power of our industry. Partnering with carefully selected collaborators, we curate a bespoke team specific to project needs and focus on delivering great community outcomes over financial gain.
Our focus is on delivering community-focused strategic planning and management consulting solutions to clients ranging from national and state sporting associations to local clubs, state government departments to local councils, private industry to not-for-profit groups. We specialise in the sport, recreation, health, social policy and urban planning fields, but can pull together a team to suit any project!
Strategic planning is our speciality. We pride ourselves on being data-driven and outcome-focused, having undertaken a wide range of projects for government and not-for-profit agencies Australia-wide as both an external consultant and in-house policy and planning roles.
We have experience in the design and delivery of infrastructure projects, ranging from minor capital works to major redevelopments.
Similarly, we’re experienced in program development and delivery across diverse areas such as social inclusion, health and wellbeing, active recreation and major sporting infrastructure.
Master planning parks, sporting precincts and educational facilities are our passion projects. We enjoy placemaking and good urban design, focusing on connecting stakeholders, maximising community benefit and ensuring sustainable use of often scarce resources.
Combining experience managing a state-wide government infrastructure funding program and a long history of involvement in local government community grants programs, we have an astute understanding of the political environment at play. We can develop robust feasibility studies, business cases and cost/benefit analysis, along with successful grant applications and advocacy strategies.
Utilising the IAP2 public participation spectrum, we deliver community engagement and market research programs specific to each project. Our focus of services includes market research, stakeholder and community engagement, club development and training, communication and marketing strategies.
